The national rate of population growth for the Hispanic population was 58 percent.
Of the states with the largest Hispanic populations, you can see that California (43 percent), New York (30 percent) and New Mexico (32 percent) grew more slowly than the national average.
Texas (54 percent) and Arizona (51 percent) had growth patterns approaching the national average.
The state of Washington made the top ten by virtue of the fact that it doubled its Hispanic population during the 1990s. The state had almost a 106 percent increase in its Hispanic population.
