Media Advisory — 2006 Census Test Count Set to Begin on Cheyenne River Reservation

U.S. Census Bureau Director Louis Kincannon and Chairman Harold Frazier of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe will hold a news conference to kickoff the 2006 Census Test enumeration activities on the Cheyenne River Reservation. The Census Bureau will use this test to evaluate methods for counting American Indians in Indian Country in the next census. The Census Bureau, which selected the Cheyenne River Reservation as one of only two sites in the nation for the 2006 Census Test, is committed to ensuring an accurate and complete count of the American Indian population in the 2010 Census.
