Along with state and local officials, the U.S. Census Bureau will mark the two-year countdown to the 2010 Census with the grand opening of its Los Angeles Regional Census Center in Northridge, Calif. The event signals the beginning of a concentrated outreach campaign to partner with local officials, community leaders and businesses to ensure an accurate count of the population in 2010.

Los Angeles is one of 12 regional offices that will open a regional census center, with local offices to follow later this fall. The Los Angeles Regional Census Center will be the hub of census activity for Hawaii and 19 counties in Southern California. The center will employ nearly 150 people during its peak operations in 2010.
