Kurt Bauman has been an analyst at the U.S. Census Bureau for 15 years and is currently chief of the Education and Social Stratification Branch in the Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division. His research has touched on various topics, including trends in education by race, the influence of family factors on educational attainment, trends in home schooling and the measurement of material hardship in households. He has been a visiting professor at American University in Washington, D.C., and has produced more than a dozen Census Bureau reports and publications in scholarly journals.
