Locally Hired Census Workers to Update Address List, Visit Every Residence in Fayetteville Area and San Joaquin County — Locally hired workers will update the Census Bureau’s address list — verifying, adding and deleting addresses — beginning May 2 and continuing through the end of June. This is the first major phase of the 2008 Census Dress Rehearsal to be conducted in San Joaquin County, Calif., and a nine-county area around Fayetteville, N.C. (Tentatively scheduled for release early May.)
More Education Means Higher Wages in Puerto Rico — A college degree can translate into higher earnings for workers in Puerto Rico, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Puerto Rico Community Survey. This news release includes a look at educational attainment, household size, living arrangements and more on the Island of Enchantment. (Tentatively scheduled for release in Puerto Rico May 3.)
More Houses Have More Bedrooms — American homes are getting bigger — at least when measured by the number of bedrooms they have — according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. This news release includes a look at the most common housing types in different regions, states and cities. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-May.)
Estimates of U.S. and State Population by Age, Sex, Race and Hispanic Origin: July 1, 2006 — National- and state-level population estimates cross-tabulated by these demographic characteristics. (Tentatively scheduled for release mid-May.)
State and Local Government Finances: 2004-2005 — Downloadable Internet tables, covering state and local government financial activities in four broad categories: revenues, expenditures, outstanding debt and assets (cash and security holdings). The tables through 2004 can be found at <http://www.census.gov/govs/estimate>. (Tentatively scheduled for release May 15.)
The Fourth of July — The Census Bureau celebrates our nation’s 231st birthday with a collection of statistics on flags, fireworks and food. Data come from across demographic and economic subject areas. (Tentatively scheduled for release early May.)
