CSPro requires a Microsoft Windows machine running XP, Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8. It requires 256 megabytes of memory and at least 70 megabytes of free disk space.

The full installation package includes: Data Entry, Editing, and Tabulation modules. It also includes many tools for: working with data files, creating simple maps for spatial analysis, and creating tabling systems for information dissemination (including via the Internet).

The mobile installation package contains a version of CSPro that runs on Windows Mobile versions 5 and 6. The mobile installation package is the data entry program for mobile devices and works in collaboration with the desktop version of CSPro 4.1.

Though the U.S. Census Bureau no longer supports the predecessor to CSPro, the Integrated Microcomputer Processing System (IMPS), version 4.1 is available for archived download.
