Population Analysis System (PAS) Download

Instructions for Downloading PAS (Excel version)
Note: The latest version of the PAS spreadsheets was created to correct a problem that prevented the spreadsheets from being saved. This appears to have been a result of recent Microsoft Windows updates.

1. Transfer the PASEX.EXE file to your PC
Download PASEX.EXE. This will copy the PASEX.EXE to your hard drive. Your software should prompt you for a filename and location. For best results, copy to the directory where you want to store the spreadsheet files (e.g. C:\PASEX) or a temporary directory (e.g. C:\TEMP).

2. Run PASEX.EXE on your PC to unzip the files.
After you have successfully retrieved PASEX.EXE, make sure it is on your local hard drive in the desired directory. The file PASEX.EXE is a self-extracting archive (ZIP), which contains the Excel version the PAS spreadsheets. The unzipped Excel files will take up about 3 megabytes. If you have placed PASEX.EXE in a subdirectory called C:\PASEX, you can run the program in one of two ways:

In Windows:
  1. Click on Start then Run, and enter the name of the directory and the program name, e.g. C:\PASEX\PASEX.EXE or you can use the Browse button to find the file.
  2. Click the OK button.
Using DOS (Command Prompt):
  1. Switch to that directory and run the program to extract the files:
    C:
    CD C:\PASEX
    PASEX

The subdirectory should then contain the 45 *.xls files.
