Notes:

USPS ZIP Codes are as of March 2007. This file contains one record for each ZIP code
in each county or equivalent area in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Island 
Areas (American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and 
the U.S. Virgin Islands). For 5-digit ZIP Codes that are entirely included in a 
single county, only one record for the 5-digit ZIP is shown and no ZIP+4 records are
included. Similarly, if a 7-digit zone (5-digit ZIP and first 2-digits of +4 
extension) is entirely included in a single county, only one record for the 7-digit 
zone is shown and no ZIP+4 records are included. In those cases, the 7-digit zone is
shown in the ZIP9 field.

Metropolitan, micropolitan, and related statistical areas are defined by the Office 
of Management and Budget (OMB) as of December 2006.


OMB defines metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas in the United States and 
Puerto Rico only. Although the Island Areas are included in this file, metropolitan 
and micropolitan statistical areas are not defined in the Island Areas.
