Col. 1, 6: Revised data from 1990 Census. Revisions include post-1990 Census corrections of political geography or geographic mis-allocations and boundary updates. Three counties in the South Carolina site are affected: Chesterfield, Marlboro, and Richland.
Col. 2,3: Source of housing unit estimates--California Agency estimates are available on the California Dept. of Finance Internet site (www.dof.ca.gov). Census Bureau estimates are unpublished estimates, used here for evaluation purposes.
Col. 5, 6: Source of population estimates--California Agency estimates are available on the California Dept. of Finance Internet site (www.dof.ca.gov). Wisconsin Agency estimates are available on Demographic Services Center Internet site (www.doa.state.wi.us). Census Bureau estimates are available on its Internet site (www.census.gov).
Col. 4, 8: Methodology of 4-18-1998 interpolations (for 7-1-98 Census Bureau estimates). Annual average change between 4-1-90 and 7-1-98 is calculated (dividing difference of Col. 1 and 2 by 8.25 years for annual housing change and dividing difference of Col. 5 and 6 by 8.25 years for annual population change). The elapsed time between 4-1-98 (Census Day) and 7-1-98 is calculated (71/365 days=0.2). The 4-18-98 interpolated estimate = 7-1-98 estimate - annual average change * 0.2.

Methodology of 4-18-1998 extrapolations (for 1-1-98 State Agency estimates for Sacramento City and Menominee County): Annual average change between 4-1-90 and 1-1-98 is calculated (dividing difference of Col. 1 and 2 by 7.75 years for annual housing change and dividing difference of Col. 5 and 6 by 7.75 years for annual population change). The elapsed time between 1-1-98 and 4-18-98 (Census Day) is calculated (108/365 days=0.296). The 4-18-98 extrapolated estimate = 1-1-98 estimate + annual average change * 0.296.
