Presents quarterly estimates for forty selected metropolitan areas (MA's) of the number of new, privately owned residential housing units authorized by building permits, authorized but not yet started, started, under construction, and completed. Annual totals and comparative data for earlier years are given also. Tables include all such housing units and separate figures for one-family houses. An annual supplement provides statistics on sales of new one-family houses including the number sold, median a nd average sales prices, and median and average floor areas.
