Field Representative

Become a Field Representative and enjoy...

  • Flexible hours
  • Interesting work
  • Helping your community and the nation

Positions are available to conduct Census Bureau surveys on a variety of vital issues such as health, housing, income, employment, and crime. Field Representatives interview randomly selected addresses, usually using a laptop computer. The number of hours worked may range from 30-80 hours each month, depending on the workload in the assignment area. The best time to interview tends to be on the weekends and evening.

This is an ideal job for a self-starter who is organized and who enjoys meeting and talking with people. While most people are cooperative, some respondents require our interviewers to be skilled salespeople - that is, to "sell" them on the importance of the survey.

Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle, and non-cellular phone line
  • Pass 30 minute written basic skills test
  • Be available to work days, evenings, and weekends
  • Reside in area where the work assignments are concentrated

To apply write the following information:

  • Name
  • Mailing address
  • County of residence
  • Phone number
