Positions are available to conduct Census Bureau surveys on a variety of vital issues such as health, housing, income, and crime. Field representatives interview at randomly selected addresses, usually using a laptop computer. The number of hours worked each month may range from 20-80 hours, depending on the workload in the assignment area. The best time to interview is on the weekends and evening.
This is an ideal job for a self-starter who is organized and who enjoys meeting and talking with people. While most people are cooperative, some respondents require our interviewers to be skilled salespeople - that is, to "sell" them on the importance of the survey.
The pay range is $12.07 to $17.94 per hour, depending on work experience and location. You will also be reimbursed for authorized expenses, including 56 cents per mile (effective January 1, 2014).
