Field Representative (FR)

Flexible hours!
Interesting work!
Help your community and the nation!

Positions are available to conduct Census Bureau surveys on a variety of vital issues such as health, housing, income, and crime. Field representatives interview at randomly selected addresses, usually using a laptop computer. The number of hours worked each month may range from 20-100 hours, depending on the workload in the assignment area. The best time to interview is on the weekends and evening.

This is an ideal job for a self-starter who is organized and who enjoys meeting and talking with people. While most people are cooperative, some respondents require our interviewers to be skilled salespeople - that is, to "sell" them on the importance of the survey.

Pay and reimbursements:

The pay range is $10.19 to $14.33 per hour, depending on work experience and location. You will also be reimbursed for authorized expenses, including 51 cents per mile.

Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Valid driver's license, vehicle, and private phone line
  • Pass a 30 minute written basic skills test
  • Be available to work days, evenings, and weekends

How to apply:

  • Name
  • Mailing address
  • County of residence
