Local Update of Census Address (LUCA)
One of our initial partnership opportunities for tribal, state and local governments is our Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) program. LUCA provides governments the opportunity to assist us in improving the accuracy and completeness of the Census Bureau’s Master Address File for their jurisdiction. Developing an accurate and up-to-date Master Address File is the first and most vital stage of the decennial census process. The Master Address File will be used to define the universe for Census 2010 questionnaire delivery and the Bureau’s ongoing household surveys. We invite you to partner with us as we prepare for Census 2010 by participating in LUCA for your jurisdiction.
We are offering LUCA Technical Training workshops in various locations throughout Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. The Technical Training is free and lasts approximately five hours. These classroom workshops will:
- Include a detailed review of all major program components
- Provide necessary knowledge to make an informed decision on your city/town/county’s level of participation
- Include specific examples and exercises to provide the skills necessary to review and update the census address list for your jurisdiction
This will be your opportunity to ask questions and obtain answers about the Local Update Census Addresses program.
“I strongly recommend you participate in this program so that you can help us with a successful census for your jurisdiction.” - Stanley D. Moore, Regional Director
