About
the New York Regional Office
The New
York Regional Office of the U.S. Census Bureau is part of the
Field Directorate. The field division plans and directs the
collection of national sample survey, census, and other data,
at the local level. Data are collected through a flexible field
organization of regional census offices in 12 major cities across
the country. The offices employ part-time interviewers who gather
data by direct contact with the public. During major censuses,
the division administers temporary regional census centers,
district offices, and other offices.
