Thanks to our 558 Delaware partners, who helped make Census 2000 a success.

Delaware

  • Delaware, "The First State" has three counties and one representative in the U.S. House of Representatives.

  • According to 1990 Census information, Delaware had a population count of 666,168 people. Census 2000 shows that Delaware's population has grown to 783,600 residents and a mail response rate of 63%. Significant population growth in the last decade means census data will be critical in planning for services and facilities.

  • Census 2000 figures will determine Delaware's political representation in Congress and the state's annual share of more than $185 billion dollars to be distributed every year for the next ten years - money for schools, day care, health care, jobs, new businesses and housing development.
