Thanks to our 11,220 Pennsylvania partners, who helped make Census 2000 a success.

Pennsylvania

  • The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has 21 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives representing 67 counties in the Keystone State.

  • Statistics from Census 2000 indicate Pennsylvania had a mail response rate of 70% and a population count of 12,281,054 people.

  • Pennsylvania's population has grown by 398,212 residents since 1990. Significant population growth in the last decade means Census 2000 data will be critical for proper planning. Census 2000 information will shape the future of Pennsylvania and its ability to meet the needs of its people.

  • Census 2000 figures will determine Pennsylvania's political representation in Congress and the state's annual share of more than $185 billion dollars for a decade of money for schools, day care, health care, jobs, new businesses and housing development.
