SIPP 1996 Panel Problem with Waves 11 and 12 Demographic User Note

User Note

The allocation flags for the following demographic variables are incorrect for Waves 11 and 12 of the longitudinally edited 1996 Panel Survey of Income and Program Participation files. Since these variables are consistent across all waves of the panel, the FERRET representation of the allocation flags is correct for all but persons entering sample in waves 11 or 12. However, the ASCII version of the files which are in wave format are incorrect for all persons in these waves. They can be corrected for records with person number less than 1100 by matching to an earlier wave.

In addition to the above variables, the following monthly allocation flags are incorrect for Waves 11 and 12. These variables appear in the longitudinal format with the suffixes for months 41 through 48.
