SPD SECOND LONGITUDINAL FILE USER NOTES

SEPTEMBER 30, 2002

The following errors were found on the SPD Second Longitudinal files released on the FTP page on the SPD web site.

1.         Data Dictionary Variable Location Revisions – SPD Second Longitudinal File released on July 19, 2002

The Second Longitudinal File Data Dictionary and Appendices character locations contained errors on the documentation released on July 19, 2002 on the FTP page of the SPD web page. Two filler variables were not included for each calendar year which offset the character location documentation.

A revised data dictionary was released on October 2, 2002 with the corrected locations.

2.         Duplicate Variable – July 19, 2002 release and September 23, 2002 release of the SPD Second Longitudinal Data Files

The following variable names and data appear incorrectly twice on the data file:

A revised file was released on the FTP site on October 1, 2002. The revisions are as follows:

3.         Incorrect variable name – Second Longitudinal File Documentation Released on the SPD Web Site and the FTP page on July 19, 2002 and September 23, 2002

The documentation for the variable name in character position 4001 for the data files released on July 19, 2002 and September 23, 2002 contained a “4" instead of the correct variable name FFINVLR4.

A revised data dictionary was released on October 2, 2002 with the corrected variable name.
