Internet Requests Pass One Million Mark

The Census Bureau’s Internet node processed over one million information requests between February and the end of September – an important milestone. Over 476,000 access “hits” were made on the Census gopher (text-based) site by external users, while the hypertext site (graphics as well as text) was accessed over 394,000 times. Over 23,000 external users downloaded files using the “file transfer protocol” (ftp) option.
