Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and North Miami Mayor Andre Pierre will launch the 2010 Census in Schools program at North Miami Senior High School. Elementary and middle schools will also take part in the event.
The program will be highlighted by visits from Sesame Street characters walkaround Count von Count (The Count) and Rosita.
Census in Schools gives schools a wide range of free, optional, standards-based lesson plans on subjects related to the census, ranging from math to social studies. The program is designed for students in kindergarten through 12th grade and will be made available to more than 120,000 schools and 56 million students nationwide.
