Usability Testing of the ACS on Smartphones and Tablets - Phase I: Before Optimization

Written by:

The purpose of this study is to investigate how respondents interact with the ACS online survey when answering questions using their own smartphone or tablet as well as to identify screens that are more challenging to complete using a mobile device.  The study presented in this report is the first of two phases of research. The first phase aims to evaluate the un-optimized mobile design of the internet self-response mode of the ACS.  The second phase evaluates the newly optimized ACS screens.  The intention of this Phase I report is to establish a baseline for how the ACS online survey performed prior to optimization and from which comparisons to a mobile-friendly design can be made.
