Software Overview

The following software products have been developed by staff of the U.S. Census Bureau. These programs are used by researchers in statistical offices, universities, and private organizations around the world for data collection, data processing, and population analysis work. The programs are available free of charge.

Census and Survey Processing System (CSPro)

CSPro is a software package for entering, editing, tabulating, and mapping census and survey data.

Demographic Analysis and Population Projection System (DAPPS)

DAPPS is a software package for analyzing and creating cohort-component population projections.

Population Analysis System (PAS)

PAS consists of 45 spreadsheets with tools for analyzing age structure, mortality, fertility, migration, distribution of the population, and urbanization, which allow users to generate population projections.

Rural and Urban Projection (RUP)

RUP is a computer program for projecting age and sex cohorts over time.

Subnational Projections Toolkit (SPToolkit)

The Toolkit is a set of Excel workbooks designed to support preparation of subnational population projections following a cohort-component or mathematical extrapolation method.
