The U.S. Census Bureau conducts the BVP every ten years to provide Tribal Chairs and Highest Elected Officials of eligible tribal, state, and local governments a final opportunity to ensure the Census Bureau has the correct legal boundary, name, and status for their government. The Census Bureau uses this information to tabulate data for the 2020 Census. These data are the basis for ongoing programs such as the American Community Survey (ACS) and Population Estimates Program (PEP). Government agencies and other groups use this tabulated data to allocate more than $675 billion of federal funds each year.

The U.S. Census Bureau is no longer accepting BVP responses. We appreciate your interest and participation in the BVP. The next opportunity to provide boundary updates to the Census Bureau is through the 2021 Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS), which begins in January 2021.
