The 2020 Census data products will be the first ever protected using a modernized privacy protection system, Disclosure Avoidance System (DAS), which allows us to safeguard respondent information while producing relevant, high quality data. Implementation of the DAS requires the Census Bureau to conduct a comprehensive review of the suite of decennial data products.  Our goal for the 2020 Census data products is to meet data user needs while implementing the new disclosure avoidance method.

Continue to visit this site to stay informed of developments as we work to implement the DAS and finalize the 2020 Census data products.

2018 Redistricting Data Prototype (Public Law 94-171) Summary File

The objective of the 2018 Redistricting Data Prototype (Public Law 94-171) Summary File was to produce a prototype of the proposed 2020 Census data format that the Census Bureau will provide to the states in 2021. This allows the states to review the proposed data format and  ensures those tabulations will meet their needs, They also can use this prototype dataset to begin building their redistricting systems in advance of the official release of data.
