Census Bureau Mortality Studies Workshop

Census Bureau Mortality Studies Workshop

Overview

The Census Bureau, in partnership with the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration, held a virtual workshop on March 10 and 11, 2021.

The workshop goal was to support and extend research using large, nationally representative Census Bureau databases that include demographic data, socioeconomic data, tobacco-use data, and health data linked to mortality outcomes.

There was no fee for attendance.  Health science researchers at all career stages were invited to register for this virtual workshop.

To maximize the learning opportunities provided by the workshop, applicants are expected to view pre-workshop videos that describe the databases, recent research, sponsor agency research interests, and data access. Attendance at workshop does not guarantee research project approval.

Research Proposal Form

Research proposals are required by all researchers who plan to use data from these databases. While the workshop focused in part on developing proposals, those who were unable to attend this workshop are welcome to submit proposals as well. In addition, there are future workshops planned with the same intended purpose. Completed research proposals should be sent to ces.mortality.studies@census.gov
