1790 Image Gallery

The nation's first census was conducted on August 2, 1790. U.S. marshals visited every household in the United States and recorded the name of the head of the household and the number of persons in each household in the following categories: free white males age 16 and older, free white males under aged 16, free white females, slaves, and other persons.
