The census of agriculture is conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). The frequency, methods, geographic scope, mandatory reporting requirements, and confidentiality requirements for NASS as they pertain to the census are described in Title 7, U.S. Code, Chapter 55 (Department of Agriculture), sections 2204g and 2276.
