The Quarterly Services Survey (QSS) is the only source of service industry indicator performance providing timely estimates of revenue and expenses for selected service industries. The Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) uses QSS data in its estimates of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Expanded Seasonal Adjustment
Effective with the March 2023 release for the fourth quarter of 2022, new seasonally adjusted expenses estimates for selected industries within NAICS sectors 62, 71, and 81 were introduced into the Full Quarterly Services Report. For more information, please visit Expenses Seasonal Adjustment.
Benchmarking
Effective with the March 2023 release for the fourth quarter of 2022, seasonally adjusted quarterly services estimates have been revised to reflect historical corrections, new seasonal factors, and results of the 2021 Service Annual Survey. Not seasonally adjusted estimates were revised effective with the February 2023 advance release for the fourth quarter of to reflect historical corrections and results of the 2021 Service Annual Survey.
Press Release Symbol Updates
To fully conform with U.S. Census Bureau approved standards, we anticipate updating table symbols for Advance Quarterly Services Report Tables A4 and A5 effective with the May 2023 advance release for the first quarter of 2023. We anticipate updating table symbols for Full Quarterly Services Report Table 2a effective with the June 2023 release for the first quarter of 2023.
