Quarterly Retail E-Commerce Sales Report
The Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce announced today that the estimate of U.S. retail e-commerce sales for the first quarter of 2026, adjusted for seasonal variation, but not for price changes, was $326.7 billion, an increase of 2.7 percent (±0.5 percent) from the fourth quarter of 2025. Total retail sales for the first quarter of 2026 were estimated at $1,929.0 billion, an increase of 1.5 percent (±0.2 percent) from the fourth quarter of 2025. The first quarter 2026 e-commerce estimate increased 9.8 percent (±1.8 percent) from the first quarter of 2025 while total retail sales increased 3.9 percent (±0.5 percent) in the same period. E-commerce sales in the first quarter of 2026 accounted for 16.9 percent of total sales.
On a not adjusted basis, the estimate of U.S. retail e-commerce sales for the first quarter of 2026 totaled $302.3 billion, a decrease of 17.2 percent (±0.5 percent) from the fourth quarter of 2025. The first quarter 2026 e-commerce estimate increased 9.7 percent (±1.8 percent) from the first quarter of 2025 while total retail sales increased 4.0 percent (±0.5 percent) in the same period. E-commerce sales in the first quarter of 2026 accounted for 16.8 percent of total sales.
