The U.S. Census Bureau’s Population Estimates and Projections for Puerto Rico

Description

The U.S. Census Bureau produces annual estimates of the resident population for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and its municipios. The estimates are produced by age and sex using a residual cohort-component approach. In this session, participants will learn about the methodology and available data, as well as recent methodological adjustments made to address events such as hurricanes and the pandemic that affected the island's population. Participants will also learn about population projections available on the Census Bureau's International Database.
