The U.S. Census Bureau and the Local Employment Dynamics (LED) Partnership in collaboration with the Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER) and the Labor Market Information (LMI) Institute, welcomes Evan Johnston, Reece Neathery, and John Karras as they present, “Connecting Jobs and Walkability with Census Data.” Using the Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) Origin-Destination Economic Statistics (LODES) data and walk-time analysis can identify employment centers and improve existing areas. About the Presenter

Evan Johnston has a background of nearly 10 years in economic research at the University of Texas at Austin and TIP Strategies. He specializes in data visualization, economic analysis, and labor market research with an emphasis on equitable workforce development and resiliency.

Reece Neathery works on TIP’s Research and Development team, gathering and analyzing data to provide clear communication between consultants and project stakeholders. He specializes in GIS mapping and analysis, using maps to effectively illustrate the patterns and stories contained within a dataset.

John Karras has spent nearly two decades working as a national economic development strategist in communities across 40 US states, as well as Mexico and Canada. In addition to his consulting portfolio, John has built a reputation as a leading thinker on urban revitalization trends and their impact on economic development.
