America's youth, ages 12 to 17, continue to report substantial rates of major depressive episodes. Among those who suffer from mental illness, co-occuring substance use and dependence are common. Find out more on Friday, March 15, 2013, at 8:15 a.m. EDT as Peter Delany, director of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality, discusses the trends by age and gender, how the data are collected, and what mental health services are being used. Most Fridays, C-SPAN's "America by the Numbers" segment on its "Washington Journal" show features information from the federal statistical system.
