Patterns of Association – Quality of English Spoken by People Who Speak Spanish in Their Homes

Activity Description

Quality of English Spoken

Students will create a scatter plot using data from the U.S. Census Bureau, in which residents who primarily speak Spanish at home were asked to self-report the quality of their spoken English. Students will study associations between the years the data were reported (2016–2021) and the ratings for speaking English (“very well” and “less than very well”).
