1970 Census of Population, Subject Reports: Mobility for States and the Nation

Report Number PC(2)-2B

This report presents statistics on geographical mobility of persons 5 years old and over during the period 1965 to 1970. The data were obtained from a question on residence on April 1, 1965, asked in the 1970 Census of Population and Housing.

The text consists of an introduction and Appendices A through E, which appear after the tables.

Content of the Tables

  • Tables 1-22 – general mobility status of persons according to social, economic, and housing characteristics
  • Tables 23-41 – selected social and economic characteristics of persons in terms of region of birth and residence in 1965
  • Tables 42-49 – area-to-area flows of various population subgroups, with areas defined in terms of regions, divisions, or individual States
  • Tables 50-59 – inmigrants or outmigrants for individual States

Sample size. The statistics presented in this report are based on a 15-percent sample adjusted to represent the total population.
