The research reported herein was conducted from June to October 1992 under the auspices of the US Bureau of the Census, Center for Survey Methods Research. This report is one of four conducted in the same period, each focused on a different respondent population. The respondent population for this research was white middle-class Americans; all interviewed were residents of the Washington- Baltimore Metro Area at the time of the survey. The research consisted in three sub-projects.
