The SIPP is the premier source of information on income and program participation. These SIPP tables provide national data about the receipt of social security, TANF, SNAP, WIC, SSI, retirement income, unemployment insurance, free- and reduced-price school meals, VA benefits, and the receipt of child support. Program receipt is presented at both individual and household levels, and by a variety of demographic characteristics.
The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in substantial changes in the receipt of SNAP and Unemployment Insurance that persisted into calendar year 2021. However, the SIPP data do not fully reflect these changes; data users should refer to detailed User Notes for these programs.
Additionally, differences in universes and treatment of missing data may result in minor differences between the numbers presented here and in other Census Bureau products.
