Note:Â Revisions were made to two estimates in the Shared Households section of the report (page 18): the poverty rate of individuals aged 25 to 34 who lived with their parents using their own incomes in 2019 (35.6 percent vs. 34.8 percent originally published) and the poverty rate of members of shared households when excluding the presence of any young-adult children (11.8 percent vs 11.5 percent). Revisions were made to estimates in Table A4 (page 35) for the 30th and 70th percentiles. Other minor differences are due to updates in the programming of this table. In addition, Table A5 (page 41) erroneously showed margins of error instead of standard errors for the 2017 and 2018 estimates.
This report presents data on income, earnings, income inequality, and poverty in the United States based on information collected in the 2019 and earlier Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplements (CPS ASEC) conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau.
