Stephanie Ewert is the assistant division chief for social characteristics in the Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division of the U.S. Census Bureau.

She oversees the statistics on educational attainment, school enrollment, family and fertility, migration, commuting, language, voting, and computer and internet use that come from several Census Bureau surveys. Ewert has authored numerous Census Bureau reports and papers.

Previously, she served as chief of the Foreign-Born Population Branch and as an analyst in the Education and Social Stratification Branch. She earned her doctoral degree in sociology from the University of Washington and her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Wheaton College in Illinois.
