Mr. Bryan is currently the president of BryanGeoDemo (“BGD”), a consultative demographic research firm with expertise in political redistricting, state and local districting, school redistricting, small area population estimates and projections, national health research, municipal infrastructure planning and other practical areas of applied demographic research.

Mr. Bryan holds a BS in History from Portland State University, a Masters in Urban Studies (MUS) from Portland State University, and a Masters in Management and Information Systems (MIS) from George Washington University.

Mr. Bryan’s 30 years of demographic and census experience began in the public sector when he was an analyst at the Oregon State Data Center from 1993-1996, and later working at the US Census Bureau as a statistician from 1998-2001.  Mr. Bryan then moved into the private sector, working in leadership positions at Altria and Microsoft until 2019 (now retired).

During his career, Mr. Bryan grew BGD into a nationally recognized demographic research firm.  Mr. Bryan has served as an expert witness in dozens of redistricting cases and has led hundreds of surveys and demographic studies and projects.

Mr. Bryan has contributed chapters to "The Methods and Materials of Demography" and the "Handbook of Population, " as well as co-authoring “Redistricting: A Manual for Analysts, Practitioners, and Citizens" and numerous refereed journal articles.  As a long-time member of the Population Association of America, the Southern Demographic Association, and the American Statistical Association, Mr. Bryan actively participates not only in presenting papers, but also in organizing and chairing sessions.  Notable recent engagements include chairing the "Assessing the Quality of the 2020 Census" session at PAA’s 2020 Conference, presenting "Analysis of Differential Privacy and its Impacts on Redistricting" as an invited expert at the ASA's 2022 Joint Statistical Meetings, and chairing the “Uses of Census Data and New Analytical Approaches for Redistricting” session at PAA’s 2023 Applied Demography Conference.
