Corrected DHC Housing Demonstration Data Now Online

Extended 30-Day Feedback Period

April 14, 2022:  The corrected 2010 demonstration product for the Demographic and Housing Characteristics File (DHC) (v. 2022-03-16) is now available for your analysis.  This file corrects the technical error announced on April 8, 2022.

The technical error in the state geographic header files that caused a misalignment of data for all state housing files for summary levels between 420 – State-Urban Area and 970 – State-School District (Unified)/Remainder has been corrected.

As previously noted, there were no issues with the actual, underlying demonstration data in the Unit Files. The National Files, Person Files, and the Detailed Summary Metrics were not impacted by this issue. The corrected files have replaced the previous files in the following folder: 2022-03-16_Summary_File_Housing/. If you downloaded the state housing unit data prior to April 14, 2022, then you should redownload the corrected data.

Please Submit Demonstration Data Feedback by Monday, May 16

We have extended the feedback period to Monday, May 16, 32 days from today. Please submit feedback on both the person tables released March 16 (tables | newsletter) and housing tables re-released today. Together, these tables comprise the first of the latest two rounds of demonstration data and associated comment period.

Please send feedback to 2020DAS@census.gov using the subject “2020 Census Data Products.” Please provide the table, level of geography, description of the use case, and implications should the data be released as reflected in this demonstration data release. It is vital that we receive your comments by the May 16 deadline to ensure that we produce the final data product in a timely manner.

It’s possible that we might choose to publish detailed summaries of the comments we receive. If so, we will make every effort to remove identifying information, such as names of individuals and organizations.

Help Us Shape Future 2020 Census Data Product Handbooks – Short Survey

Please take a few minutes to offer your thoughts on the handbook Disclosure Avoidance for the 2020 Census: An Introduction.  Your anonymous feedback will help us create future handbooks and materials to help data users better understand the new disclosure avoidance procedures used for the 2020 Census.

We want to thank all of you who attempted to complete this survey earlier but couldn’t because the survey was unavailable. It’s now back and ready for your feedback. We’ve extended the survey deadline to Friday, May 6.
