How We’re Continuing to Engage with Everyone in 2023

Written by: Robert L. Santos, Director

April 3 — I tend to be an empath. I can very much sense people’s joy, their sadness, their pain. But I can’t read minds. And that is why it’s critical that I – and more importantly, we at the U.S. Census Bureau – reach out to you in your roles as partners, stakeholders, data users, policymakers and the public. We need to understand your needs, your concerns and more generally your perspectives on matters related to Census Bureau statistical data products. And occasionally we need to talk through misperceptions that can occur on both our parts.

Census Data for Resiliency: Helping Communities Prepare, Respond and Recover

Written by: Dr. Ron Jarmin, Deputy Director

March 30 — Whether its statistical data or operational expertise, the U.S. Census Bureau can assist federal and local partners with emergency preparedness. Our data and services are more important to our nation than ever before – especially as images of tornadoes in the South and disastrous flooding in California, caused by record rains and snowfall, filled recent newscasts. And now, as the 2023 hurricane season quickly approaches, federal, state, and local officials will use our data and tools to help communities prepare, respond, and recover.
