2020 Census Evaluation: Matching 2018 Census Barriers, Attitudes, and Motivators Study (CBAMS) Survey Sample to 2020 Census Report
The purpose of the Matching 2018 Census Barriers, Attitudes, and Behaviors Study (CBAMS) Survey Sample to the 2020 Census, was to evaluate the relationship between intended response behaviors and actual response behaviors.
This report focuses on using the 2018 CBAMS to examine 2020 Census response through an exploratory model to understand individual and household characteristics for survey cooperation. Sociodemographic and attitudinal variables are used to build the exploratory model to examine the relationship between self-reported intention to participate in the 2020 Census based on 2018 CBAMS and actual 2020 Census participation.Â
The results of the research presented in this report will provide valuable information regarding the mismatch between intention to respond as measured in a public opinion survey before the census and actual census response. This will help identify groups that would benefit from further outreach and engagement to increase self-response in future decennial censuses.
