Alexa Jones-Puthoff

Chief, Population Estimates Branch, U.S. Census Bureau

Alexa Jones-Puthoff is chief of the Population Estimates Branch at the U.S. Census Bureau (Population Division). She is responsible for leading the production and evaluation of population estimates for the United States, states and counties. Prior to taking that position, she spent five years working in the Census Bureau's Immigration Statistics Staff (ISS). While with ISS, she focused on improving the Census Bureau's estimates of net international migration to the United States. She also conducted analyses of American Community Survey data (with an emphasis on foreign-born populations), and spent a short time working in the field during preparations for the 2000 Census. Before joining the Census Bureau, Alexa directed demographic research at a Washington, D.C.-based research institute.
