Census Bureau Opens Temporary Office in Silver Spring, Md., to Conduct Test for 2020 Census

What:

U.S. Census Bureau officials will host a news conference to announce the opening of a temporary local census office in Silver Spring, Md., and to discuss the testing of 2020 Census operations in 2014. The 2014 Census Test area includes approximately 200,000 housing units in portions of Washington, D.C., and Montgomery County, Md. These operations will allow the Census Bureau, on a small scale, to test a variety of new methods and advance technologies under consideration for the 2020 Census (including Internet response and automation of field activities), designed to provide substantial taxpayer savings while maintaining quality data.

The Census Bureau is currently recruiting and plans to hire approximately 1,000 workers for the 2014 Census Test, which is expected to last through September. For hiring information, please call 1-888-480-1639.
