Aretha Wilkerson is performing the duties of the director of the U.S. Census Bureau’s National Processing Center (NPC) in Jeffersonville, Indiana, where she serves as the Assistant Division Chief of Processing.
In this role, she manages the Data Capture, Survey Processing, Document Services and Geography branches, where she oversees functions like mail processing, scanning, keying, programming, printing, and coding, along with statistical and geographic operations.
In 2023, Wilkerson served as acting director of the Philadelphia region, which includes Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Wilkerson began her career with the Census Bureau as a supervisory survey statistician in the Dallas Regional Office, later serving as a program coordinator, assistant regional director and operations manager for the 2010 Census. She also supervised the Post Enumeration Survey and most field surveys, most recently providing processing support for the 2020 Census at the NPC.
Wilkerson, a Jeffersonville resident, is a proud graduate of Jarvis Christian University (JCU), an Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in Hawkins, Texas.
