Supplemental Poverty Measure (SPM) Team Lead, Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division, U.S. Census Bureau

John Creamer leads the Supplemental Poverty Measure (SPM) team in the U.S. Census Bureau’s Social, Economic and Housing Statistics Division, which produces annual poverty estimates and conducts research to improve poverty measurement using the Current Population Survey Annual Social and Economic Supplement (CPS ASEC).

Since joining the Census Bureau in 2018, Creamer has conducted research into the role of health insurance in poverty measurement, the relationship between bank account ownership and poverty, and how income and poverty measurement decisions shape trends in economic well-being over time.

Creamer holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from The George Washington University and a doctorate in economics from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland.
