Virginia Hyer Bring

Deputy Assistant Director for Communications, U.S. Census Bureau

Virginia began her career at the Census Bureau as an intern in the Public Information Office in 2011 and joined the team full time in 2013. She later served as the chief of the Public Relations Branch for the 2020 Census.

From 2022 to 2024, she was press secretary for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.

She also completed two details in the Department of Commerce’s Office of Public Affairs - from 2016 to 2017 and again from 2021 to 2022.

Virginia returned to the Census Bureau in 2024 as deputy assistant director for communications.

She received a Department of Commerce Gold Medal for her role in the America’s Economy mobile app, as well as several Census Bureau Bronze medals for her work on the 2020 Census.
