Opening in 2026, the University of Tennessee-Knoxville Research Data Center is the only Federal Statistical Research Data Center in Tennessee and is a branch of the Atlanta Research Data Center. Located in Hodges Library, the RDC provides approved researchers with access to restricted-use data from participating federal agencies.
Celeste Carruthers is a Professor of Economics with a joint appointment in the Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research. Her research touches on education policy, labor economics, and economic history.
The operation of each Federal Statistical Research Data Center (RDC) is supported by both the Census Bureau and RDC partner institutions. Some RDC partner institutions form consortiums to share the operational costs of the RDC and may waive user fees for their affiliates. Several RDCs have built branch locations to reduce the cost of researchers commuting to the core location while still maintaining the identical stringent information technology and physical security requirements.
