When users of the CRE for Heat repeatedly emphasized the need for a more detailed measure of air‑conditioning access as a key indicator of heat vulnerability, the CRE team updated its cross‑survey modeling framework to respond. The result, LACE which provides national to neighborhood estimates of households with and without air conditioning, closing a critical data gap for researchers, planners, and local governments working to better understand and address extreme heat risk.
